Transforming mushroom waste into nutrient-rich pet food
By harnessing the power of myco-technology, the company is addressing the inefficiencies and wastage prevalent in mushroom cultivation. As co-founder Armaan explained, over 5.5 kg of nutritious mushroom stems and spent substrates are discarded for every 1 kg of mushroom produced.
In India, over 650,000 tons of these nutritious components are discarded, representing a staggering loss of potential nutrition. To make matters worse, this myco waste contributes to an alarming emission of over 200 million tons of methane annually in India.
Pawsible Foods is turning this waste into an opportunity through its proprietary fermentation process. The process transforms these overlooked mushroom waste into Myco-Ingredients™, which become sustainable and nutrient-rich components for pet food.
The Myco-Ingredients™ can be combined with other plant-based superfoods leading to infinite possibilities in smarter pet nutrition
Pawsible's products are more than just vegetarian substitutes. They are thoughtfully designed to provide pets with the essential nutrients they need while emulating the taste and aroma that pets love.
This dual advantage caters to pets' dietary needs while also addressing ethical and environmental concerns tied to traditional pet food production, making it a win-win for all stakeholders—pets included, naturally.
Recognition and achievements
Pawsible Foods' journey has been one of recognition and growth. The company recently secured the 1st Runner-Up position in the startup category at the esteemed Singapore India Hackathon 2023. This accomplishment has not only earned them recognition but also a non-dilutive award of SG$15,000.
Moreover, this recognition comes with added benefits. The team has been fast-tracked into the esteemed TiE Stars Mentoring Program with TiE Singapore—a program that can open doors to the TiE Angel Fund, a valuable opportunity for further expansion and development. Operating on non-dilutive grants, the company has achieved significant progress, since it last received the VIP Impact grant worth SG$10,000 from NUS Enterprise.
In an exciting recent development, the company forged a technical partnership with Ocean Healthcare Private Limited to facilitate the commercialization of Pawsible’s proprietary Myco-Ingredients™.
Strong commitment to building a better bioeconomy
Pawsible Foods' journey is driven by a vision for a healthier, more sustainable future for pets and the pet care industry.
The co-founders of Pawsible Foods, Armaan and Samyak, are undergraduates at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where they are studying Biochemical Engineering and Economics, respectively.
Besides Pawsible Foods, they further contribute to building a better bioeconomy by leading the Delhi Smart Protein Project and spearheading the NUS Alt Protein Project, both under the mentorship of The Good Food Institute India and APAC.
As they look toward the future, they are gearing up for the next phase of growth, with plans to raise Pawsible’s seed round.
